A while ago I read an article about poker pro Chris "Jesus" Ferguson building up a bank roll from scratch into a healthy $10,000 USD. Amazing as this is, it definitely is a real challenge to do. He said that he wanted to demonstrate how anyone with enough discipline, a set of rules and patience can do it; that and 20 years of experience Hah!

I came across this funny scene made by a group of independant film makers starting out. If you have seen the poker movie Rounders starring Matt Damon as Mike McD and John Malkovich as the infamous Teddy KGB, then you will recognise this scene when Mike gets his whole bank roll stacked and he is sent stumbling out the door.

So I finally got around to seeing what all the fuss was about with the new poker movie "Lucky You" even though it has been out for a few months. I was pleasantly surprised with this new edition of a poker movie. Didn't expect much except for the typical love story especially when it involves poker...

Over the last few days I have managed to scrape a bank roll together to start playing live cash games at my local poker room which is across the road from where I live in Melbourne, Australia - Crown Casino.

I had the day off work but neglected to try and qualify for the Pokerstars Sunday Million tournament so I played the odd low limit cash game and a few sit n go tourneys.   In the afternoon I watched the final table to see what the results would be.

Today I finally decided to take the Donkey Test.  If you haven't heard of it before it is a clever test created to measure your poker IQ.   It meausres such things as reading bluffs, betting patterns, hand selection, positional play, tournament skill, computational speed and much more... My lowest score was on the computational speed which I found unfair as I really had to think about the questions being asked.   Anyway I managed to get a Poker IQ score of 111, which labels me as a Low Stakes Cash Game Pro..
