I was in middle position early hours of the morning at Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia with about $450 in chips in front of me after 7 hours work. I look down at my hand and see “Big Slick” Ace King Suited Spades, Great Starting Hand! When you have been card dead and I had not played a hand in a while. My reputation at the table was tight aggressive.
A player under the gun (First to act) who is known for bluffing at big pots does a standard bluff raise that he normally does of $12, 6 times the big blind, everyone else folds except one guy in early position who flat calls. The action gets to me and I’m thinking I want to isolate the raiser to make it heads up so I raise the minimum of $24 everyone folds and the bluffer re raises me again to $48, early position guy folds and I think for a while then call.
There now is $111 in the pot, the flop is - Ace clubs - King clubs – 9 spades – I just flopped 2 pair, now I had played with this guy most of the night and had seen him do some crazy bluffs, this time he just checked, the warning bells went off in my head, it was the first time I had seen him check for a while, normally he had just fired at the pot.
I contemplated for a while then decided I didn’t want to see another card with a flush draw out there so I bet $60 into the pot to see where I stood and take the pot down now.
The bluffer instantly re raised me all in,

for all my nights work, I went into the tank for a while, this was the first time I had seen him willing to make a big bluff against me since he knew I had a tight image and I just had a sense that he wanted me to call, the only thing I could of hoped for could have been we had both had Ace King and we would draw.
After putting all this info together I put him on a big hand and folded face up for the table to see, everyone couldn’t believe how I could fold top 2 pair and looked at me as if I was insane. The bluffer was also shocked and asked me how I could fold and turned up pocket rocket aces. The table went wow in disbelief and a crowd started to gather around the table.
I had just made a huge Lay-down of the night and people started to fear my image at the table for my play, this helped me to bluff more to take pots down.
The bluffer kept out of my way after that hand.
