Now that the WSOP has finished with the final 9 or the Novmber 9 as tagged by the media, have to wait until Novmber comes around to battle it out for the World Championship.

What are your thoughts on this?

Do you think it is a good idea?

Or maybe they could have done some thing else?

I think it is a bit of an anti climax as you have to wait until the end of the year now

It's a pity a pro didn't make it to the table to spice things up a bit. Matesow went a long way

I guess ESPN will be marketing it up with the wsop on tv and build these guys up like a reality tv show.

if it doesn't work they can always go back to the way it was before.

They said that if it doesn't work they change it back to the way it was so i think it is worth a try.

Youv'e taken the Daniel Negraneu train of thought I guess Jeff.

I think for a poker tournament its a tragedy for those players to have to come back 3 months later. Can you imagine how little sleep they would be getting? If you're running well, feeling the cards, and reading your opponents, I would be slightly miffed to have to start all that again 3 whole months later just so the corporations can juice it for all it's worth to them.
The tournament should be about the players, not about the TV show.
So they can go back to it next year, how does that help the players this year? If I was playing for 10 mill I wouldn't be happy about coming back in 3 months and I wouldn't care what they were doing next year.

Mind you in saying that, I realise the WSOP main event is the size it is and the prize pool is an indirect reflection of the viewership of the televised main event.

My solution?

Have the final table screen LIVE on the day it should be played, people who want to watch will watch, they can schedule it, advertise it, and make a slot for it months in advance, but the players are not affected by such a long break before playing the BIGGEST final table of their lives for the biggest payout in sport and for the most sought after bracelet in poker.

Yes I think this is a very big decision made by Harrahs to postpone the WSOP until November.

All plus sides seem to gravitate towards the coporate's and poker business related with being more media exposure, more sponsorship etc.

Alot of people would be definitely saying what about the players, Hopefully some of these final 9 players at the final table actually get to make a name for themselves and get decent sponsorhip opportunities.

In my opinion this is just insane and helps no one but the advertisers. I imagine what is going through these guys heads right now, being treated like super stars.

It must be tough for the players sweating it out for 3 months unitl they play the final table!

I dont like the way they have changed it at all. Once the tournament is down to the final table, it should just be played the day after.
