Making moves with a short stack? 2008/08/07 16:58 Karma: 0
Hey poker lovers,

I just wanted to know what do you all do when the blinds are racing up and you start to get a bit short stacked and not getting any decent hands.

I usually start pushing with any pair and any ace.

what do you do?

Hi AK,

Have you read any of Dan Harringtons books? he talks about M Zone play. This is when you divide the amount of the pot into your current chip stack.

Example:

Chip Stack = 1500

Small Blind = 50

Big Blind = 100

Total Pot = 150

M Zone = 150 Divided into 1500 = 10

He then talks about each M zone type of play

Green zone = 20 +
Yellow zone = 10 - 15
Orange zone = 5 - 10
Red zone = 5 or under
Dead Zone = Less than the big blind.

Thats just the basics of it, then he talks about opening up your hand playing range as your M Zone Drops, and being more aggressive and raising.
