Description:

The CakePoker idea originally began in 2004 and was created by a small team of poker players who wanted to create one of the best poker sites for U.S players. The members were all very experienced in all aspects of the poker industry, from management skills to networking and video design. CakePoker opened in 2006 on the Cake Poker network and is only available to U.S players. It is even limited to U.S credit card deposits only. In just a couple of years the CakePoker room has grown in popularity and provides some of the loosest and juiciest games on line. The majority of players come from the sportsbook and casino and are "newbies" that are often easy to beat. CakePoker offers players a terrific poker playing experience.

Software & Graphics:

The CakePoker software includes an extremely functional lobby with clean and sleek graphics, which specializes in offering players a great playing experience with a real casino like feel. It is fast and efficient with full feature functionality and easy playability with multiple open tables. It allows players to take notes on opponents during games and displays table statistics, such as; viewed-flop percentages and average pot/hands played per hour. It also shows players their own statistics at the table so players can keep track of details such as, their flop and win percentages. The software easily supports multiple tables simultaneously with unlimited table amount views.

Windows

Unfortunately, the note taking feature can be hard to use with players being selected through a scroll-down list rather than being clicked on, and the graphics may get a bit cluttered. One other down side to the software is that it does not currently offer mini views or multi-table help. All in all, CakePoker software is considered nice and easy to use with smooth graphics that move quickly and have awesome avatar choices. It is updated regularly without significant downtime.

System requirements are Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, 400Mhz Pentium or faster CPU with at least 128MB or Ram, a minimum screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels and at least 30MB of free disk space.

Tournament Traffic:

CakePoker holds several tournaments with buy-ins as small as .25cents and going into the hundreds. The traffic is decent with a good amount of tournaments in many games, which are not limited to Hold'em. Since CakePoker is its own network and is not a part of a larger poker network, their site traffic can be low but shows steady growth. Therefore, players can find small poker rooms with online averages of approximately 800 during peak times, and typically only 75-100 players in the bigger freeroll tournaments. This makes the players placing odds quite good.

Game Variety:

The game variety at CakePoker is considered above average and offers Texas Hold'em (no limit, fixed limit and pot limit), Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 card Stud hi/Lo, and more recently; turbo sit-n-go games and heads up matches.

Financial Security:

CakePoker has never had any security issues to date, in fact, it is considered one of their top priorities and they provide safe and secure banking.

Support:

CakePoker provides quick and helpful telephone, e-mail or live chat support.

Advantages/Disadvantages:

Some of the main advantages of CakePoker are their great promotions such as, Gold Cards, clean software, generous amounts of free roll tournaments, fun and exciting play, quick and easy action, and nice avatar choices, ability to replay hands and actually post them to websites or email them. In addition, they offer plenty of low limits and lower traffic, fast and easy deposits with extremely low deposit fees, and excellent support.
Some disadvantages may be that CakePoker has not yet gained many players and the limits are quite low. While the micro-limit games run all day, the sit-n-go's and the tournaments are limited to peak hours only. One last down side is that during no-limit games the adjustment bar for bets tends to be touchy and takes a lot of getting used to.

Bonus Offers:

CakePoker offers great and better than average bonus advantages. Starting with a 100% first time deposit bonus, reload bonuses and refer a friend bonuses.
